Bundesliga predictions: How will the action unfold? (Image: GETTY)
Bundesliga football is about to restart and here are the latest predictions for the weekend’s fixtures.
All eyes will be on the Bundesliga this weekend as the German top-flight becomes the first major football league to resume amid the COVID-19 crisis. Matches will be played behind closed doors with only essential staff and officials allowed at the grounds. Players have also been instructed not to spit, celebrate in groups, or touch hands with team-mates, while some stadiums will use music and cardboard cutouts of fans to enhance the atmosphere.

Leaders Bayern Munich begin the final nine matchdays with a trip to Union Berlin on Sunday with Borussia Dortmund, four points behind the Bavarians, facing Schalke a day earlier.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told SportBild: “The Bundesliga manages to become the first big league worldwide to restart.
“And with the Bundesliga as the only league to be broadcast on TV, I expect we will have an audience of a billion.”
RB Leipzig and just one point behind Dortmund and head coach Julian Nagelsmann is hoping to mount a challenge on Bayern.
“If Bayern are in top form then the title will be decided by them, especially when they have such a lead,” Nagelsmann said.
“But we will still try to win this nine-game tournament to create the theoretical conditions to end very high up.”
Borussia Moenchengladbach, fourth on 49, and Bayer Leverkusen, on 47, still have to play Bayern but they look likely to battle it out for the fourth Champions League spot with Schalke a further 10 points back in sixth.
At the other end of the Bundesliga, Paderborn’s top-flight stint looks set to come to an end after one season with the club bottom on 16 points, six off the relegation play-off spot currently held by Fortuna Duesseldorf.
Werder Bremen, champions in 2004, are 17th on 18 points and will need to push hard if they are to avoid their second relegation since 1980.
There is an 80 per cent chance of Bayern retaining the Bundesliga title this season, according to the Betfair Exchange.
Dortmund have been given a 13 per cent of being crowned champions, with RB Leipzig’s chances valued at just eight per cent.
The Betfair Exchange has also predicted the weekend’s Bundesliga fixtures, based on how people have been betting on the games.
