Chelsea boss Frank Lampard sent transfer message after Liverpool loss – ‘Forget Havertz’

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is ready for a busy summer transfer window.

Chelsea fans have urged Frank Lampard to sign defenders this summer instead of pressing ahead with a move for attacking talent such as Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz. The Blues have been busy ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea have signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, while RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has also agreed to join.

The Blues are also in talks with Bayer Leverkusen to land attacking midfielder Havertz.

Lampard watched on at Anfield on Wednesday night as Chelsea lost 5-3 against Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Blues were 3-1 down at half time before an attempted second half comeback.

Chelsea have now conceded 54 goals, a tally worse than every other team in the top half of the Premier League.

And Blues fans have urged Lampard to sign defenders this summer instead of more attacking talent.

One Chelsea supporter wrote on Twitter: “Forget Havertz sign a CB and a GK I beg @ChelseaFC.”

Another said: “Message for Lampard must be simple. Go out and sign a dominant CB or get sacked.”

“Can somebody please tell Lampard to go sign defenders?” One fan asked.

Another Blues supporter said: “Lampard needs to stop playing fifa and sign a defender.”

“Surely Lampard wants to sign at least 2 defenders right? Maybe even a keeper. It’s okay signing Werner, Ziyech and Havertz but they are DREADFUL at the back,” another fan wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “Only one clean sheet kept this season away from home is a terrible stat.”

“Lampard definitely needs to sign a few defenders & a keeper…..” One supporter agreed.

Liverpool boasted a 3-1 lead at half time on Wednesday night, with Naby Keita, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum netting for the Reds.

Olivier Giroud bagged for Chelsea just before half time to give Lampard’s men a lifeline at Anfield.

Liverpool answered back immediately after half time with Roberto Firmino making it 4-1 in the 55th minute.

Chelsea brought it back to 4-3 thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic and the Blues looked like they could snatch a point.

However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain netted with five minutes remaining to end Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback.

The defeat means Chelsea must get a point against Wolves on the Premier League’s final day this weekend to secure a top four spot.

The other Champions League place will be snapped up by Manchester United or Leicester, who face off at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
