Fight Camp represents a new challenge for the likes of Hearn and boxing as a whole

The coronavirus crisis has halted sport and boxing around the world, but social distancing regulations are being gradually eased.

And from August 1, live boxing will be back for fans to enjoy with Matchroom’s Fight Camp launch.

Of course there won’t be any crowds there, but Hearn is optimistic that it could enhance the viewing experience for the fans at home.

“I don’t see us challenging other promoters at the moment, I see us challenging other sports,” Hearn told talkSPORT’s James Savundra.

“Right now it’s all up for grabs. If we can bounce back from this and convince the broadcasters that boxing is the future, that boxing is the way forward, boxing is the sport that is out-rating and outperforming others, I believe we can do it.

Eddie Hearn offers an update on where Anthony Joshua's fight with Kubrat Pulev will be held

“When you talk about a sport in a closed environment, I think with the right production values, our sport can be intriguing, can be thrilling.

“You’re going to hear the punches land on the body, on the head and you’re going to hear the fighters wincing and you’re going to hear the corner team giving instructions, you’re going to hear the fighters talking to you.

“These are the things that you might not see normally.

“Don’t get me wrong – our bread and butter is filling up the arena, Sweet Caroline, a few beers on the go and watching a tear-up. That’s what we all want.

“In the meantime, I think this is going to be really intriguing to the viewer.”

Some of the standout fights on Fight Camp include Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight battle against Alexander Povetkin on August 22, as well as Katie Taylor’s rematch against Delfine Persoon on the same evening.
