Hearn admits Fury vs AJ could take place with no fans if situation leaves no choice

Eddie Hearn has told talkSPORT that Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua could take place with no fans in attendance if the global health situation gives no other option next year.

Boxing is now back up and running behind closed doors after the coronavirus pandemic brought the sport to a halt back in March.

There are plans to slowly ease fans back into areas and stadiums in the UK, but the future remains unclear.

When asked if it would be possible to stage Fury vs Joshua with no crowd, Hearn told the talkSPORT Breakfast: “I think if that’s the world we end up living in, we have no choice but to find a model that can make that happen.

“I’m really pleased with Fight Camp because it’s been a huge project that’s brought a lot of publicity to the sport.

“But the reality is, as we know in boxing, there’s nothing like live crowds. That’s what we live and breathe for.”

Fury is the WBC champion also holds the prestigious ‘Ring Magazine’ belt

It was announced back in June that Joshua and Fury have agreed financial terms to meet twice in 2021.

The fight is by no means a done deal as yet, but Hearn remains confident that the undisputed heavyweight showdown will take place next year.

“I think so,” he said.

“I mean you’ve got so many things in the mix, you’ve got Dillian Whyte who’s gonna be the mandatory for Fury.

“Fury’s gotta fight Wilder, AJ’s gotta fight Pulev.

“But we have agreed with Fury and his team that we’ll do those two fights next year.

“One won’t be until the summer and the other one at the end of the year.

“So right now, I don’t wanna dampen hopes for fight fans, but right now it’s one fight at a time.”
