Jorge Masvidal was gushing in his praise for middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin as the fight stars came face-to-face during a chance meeting.
The UFC welterweight has shot to prominence in the past 18 months with a series of eye-catching performances propelling him to superstardom.
Conversely, Golovkin is one of the biggest stars in world boxing and has been a key figure in the 160lbs division for years.
Masvidal and Golovkin happened to bump into one another in the UFC offices in Las Vegas
During a tour of the UFC offices in Las Vegas, the Kazakh fighter happened to bump into ‘Gamebred’ during a chance encounter with the Miami-native during a promo shoot.
After exchanging pleasantries Masvidal, who posted the video on his YouTube channel, told ‘GGG’ how much he loved his unique fighting style.
According to sensational reports from the world of boxing this week, both men were considered as potential opponents for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez by streaming site DAZN.
The Mexican pound-for-pound superstar is suing the broadcaster, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy to the tune of $280million (£219m).
The former unified middleweight champion is hoping to get back to his fighting best
DAZN wanted Canelo to fight once a year against an opponent they considered ‘premium’, with a trilogy bout against Golovkin deemed worthy enough of his lucrative deal.
However, journalist Dan Rafael claims Masvidal and Khabib Nurmagomedov were also offered as potential opponents as the need to draw in big viewing figures became more apparent.
Sergey Kovalev and Danny Jacobs both fought the 30-year-old in 2019, but they were not seen as ‘premium’ opponents – despite actually being professional boxers.
