World Number two, Rafael Nadal expressed that the courts of Paris Masters 2019 are faster than usual. Cleary, after considering the statistics from previous seasons, it has been deduced that the Parisien surface has become fast. In 2017, the Court Pace Index was 37.5 and in 2018, it was 34.6 and this year, the Court Pace Index of the Parisien hard-court is 40.

“It’s an indoor surface that in the past is the surface that I had fewer chances. I think I have been improving the game to be able to play well. I think this year the surface is quite quick and fast,” said Rafael Nadal.

However, Rafa feels Paris the best city in the entire world to play tennis. He holds an unparalleled legacy on the Parisien terre-battue and for the years to come there won’t be anyone similar ‘Rafa Nadal’ on the clay or even someone who could emulate a tiny fraction of his unique feat on the sludge.

“But I don’t know. I’m happy to be here. As everybody knows, for me it’s the most important city in my tennis career, so I love to be in Paris. Always gives me good vibes. And I think I’m doing the right steps to try to be ready for the action,” the Spaniard continued.

The champion on the Parisien clay for over a decade now, Rafael Nadal has not won a Paris Masters title out of the six times he participated and the Spaniard ace believes that luck doesn’t contribute to his achievements and trounces.

After playing some incessant tennis throughout the year, Rafael Nadal tends to underperform towards the end of a tennis season and hence the titles from Shanghai, Paris and ATP Finals are missing from Rafa’s hoard of accomplishments.

“If it’s not good luck that I won 12 times in Roland Garros, it’s not bad luck that I never won here. That’s the real thing. I get injured a lot of times, it’s true. I miss this tournament a lot of times in my career. And other times I didn’t play well and other times opponents have been better than me,” Rafa added.
