Tottenham chasing Callum Wilson after striking Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bargain with Southampton

Tottenham will turn their attention to Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson after finally sealing a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Southampton midfielder Hojbjerg will join Spurs after the two clubs agreed a fee that falls short of his club’s £25m asking price.

But it is understood the initial fee of £15m could rise with add-ons, with Spurs full back Kyle Walker-Peters moving the other way for around £12m.

Everton and at least one other club had also had bids accepted for Hojbjerg but the 25-year-old wants to join Tottenham and has already agreed personal terms.

Spurs will now shift the focus to signing a back-up striker to Harry Kane, with Wilson top of their wish list.

The England striker has told the Cherries he wants out and Tottenham are favourites to beat West Ham and Newcastle to his signature.

Bournemouth want in excess of £20m for Wilson but Spurs believe the player is keen to join them and that a compromise can be reached.

Wilson, who has three years left on his contract, scored 67 goals in 180 appearances for Bournemouth.

Spurs are also in the market for a right back after agreeing to let England Under 21 defender Walker-Peters leave.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at Southampton, who were keen to make the move permanent after passing on Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of former club captain Ledley King as first-team assistant.
